20. Boston Celtics trade Joe Johnson to the Suns
Joe Johnson was drafted by the Celtics with the 10th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, but did not last a full season in Boston. The Celtics used Johnson as trade bait to add Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk to their roster for a championship run.
The Celtics failed to make noise in the playoffs that year and Johnson turned into a solid player with the Suns. The only redeeming factor for the Celtics is that it took Johnson five years to reach his peak, which did not come until he left Phoenix to play for the Atlanta Hawks. It was with the Hawks that Johnson became “Iso Joe”, making six consecutive All-Star games.
